“If you concentrate on finding whatever is good, in every situation, you will discover that your life will suddenly be filled with gratitude, a feeling that nurtures the soul.”
-Rabbi Harold Kushner
I have continually heard things like this but was never able to fully incorporate it into my life. Over the course of the last year, I decided that cultivating gratitude in my life was a goal and a priority. I want to take my growth to the next level and I know that to do that, I have to focus on gratitude.
One of the main ways that I have been doing this is by writing what I am calling a gratitude letter to someone different every week, throughout the entire year. Each week I select someone who has made an impact in my life and I express to them how they have enriched it. This is a way to Plant your energy. Let people know what they mean to you. This practice has helped me to remember each day how much I have to be grateful for.
Life will always hand you challenges. I have been faced with many myself lately. No matter what the situation, I have trained myself to find the good in the bad. I have had recent struggles with different relationships in my life. In the midst of it all, I am recognizing what I truly want and value. I wouldn’t have seen it as clearly or felt as grateful for the people in my life had mistakes not been made. There is always good to be found…we just have to remember to look for it.
