“You don’t have to say anything to the haters. You don’t have to acknowledge them at all. You just wake up every morning and be the best you can be and that tends to shut them up.”
Michelle Obama
There will always be people who have something negative to say about you or something you’re doing. If you are living with integrity and you are happy with how you’re living your life, you do not have to defend your choices or who you are to anyone.
This is tough to follow sometimes because we want to explain and make people understand where we’re coming from. I have been practicing what this quote says for years but I forget sometimes. I’ll get wrapped up in defending myself. Then I remember: I know who I am regardless of what anyone else thinks or says, so I am not going to waste energy on other people’s shenanigans. I use these situations as opportunities to step up my game to pursue my dreams and to keep working on improving my own character.
They say that when people QUIT talking about you, that’s when you should worry. I have learned that there’s incredible power in silence. Let people talk about you while you continue to focus on creating a kick-ass life for yourself.
